Your very first Photography project is meant to show us what you're made of!! Turn your camera settings to manual mode (M on the dial). If it doesn't have this setting, set it to aperture or shutter priority. Ask a family member or friend to name something at random - the first thing that comes to their mind. Now assuming you have access to it, photograph that subject in whatever way is natural to you. Experiment with camera settings, points of view, lighting etc. Don't cheat by trying to change your subject...go with what they give you. ONLY compose 20 photos.
Choose only 5 of your best. When doing this look for relationships between images: could be telling a story (narrative), could be just about the shapes and patterns (abstract), could be commenting on some other meaning.
Save all 20 on your USB stick in a folder labeled "20 to 5.one subject.your name". Within the folder, name your chosen 5 images in the order that you want them viewed: "1.one subject.your name", "2.one subject.your name" etc. and save them.
Remember, this is your chance to make a good first impression, so take time to do this well!! I am expecting a great deal of effort and thinking, not perfection. For example my pepper images would get me a B+ grade. They fulfill what we are looking for, but I would like to have maybe turned them into a comic story using there bodily forms like creating sumo wrestler peppers in a dual or something... Be creative, and see what you can do.
Bring USB with images to next class for viewing.
