Down load the questions below if you need them for p34 - 39
Read each question carefully from the quiz on text p30 - 33. Compose one example for each question and post on your website by Wed. Nov.14. Be creative with your compositions. You will be marked on: is it a clear example of the question, is it creative, in focus. Click on the file below to get the questions.
Marked on: two different unique viewpoints, creative composition, creative use of costumes or props or back grounds, images in focus, see samples on website below. Due 10:00pm, Tues, Oct.30
In a series of 3-5 portraits tell a story of something you did this week or that happend to you this week. You will compose and modal for each scene. A friend or classmate will use your camera to take the images but you will tell them where and how to take the images. You will completely control the composition. You may make up a story if you can't find something from the week to use.
Marked on: 3-5 images, all in focus, creatively composed, used different view points / colours / back grounds, images clearly tell a story by themselves without need for words. Title your series: "Creative name" , 3-5 Portraits telling a story by "Your name" Upload your photos to your projects page on your website by 8:30am, Monday, Nov.5 Use any scene you want to do this demo. Look for detailed objects or one object that gradually increases in distance from you. Use a scene you find or setup your own. Be creative and push it beyond just a technical exercise!! You will probably need a tripod or stable object to place your camera on. DO NOT MOVE YOUR CAMERA while doing this. If you have to then mark the location of your camera with chalk before you move it. Start at your lowest aperture and move to the highest, adjusting the shutter speed each time so that you have the same exposure level.
Save on your memory stick as in a folder labeled: dof demo Save images as jpeg "f18.your name" , "f16.your name" etc. Bring to next class. We are going to make a contact sheet out of them.
Your very first Photography project is meant to show us what you're made of!! Turn your camera settings to manual mode (M on the dial). If it doesn't have this setting, set it to aperture or shutter priority. Ask a family member or friend to name something at random - the first thing that comes to their mind. Now assuming you have access to it, photograph that subject in whatever way is natural to you. Experiment with camera settings, points of view, lighting etc. Don't cheat by trying to change your subject...go with what they give you. ONLY compose 20 photos.
Choose only 5 of your best. When doing this look for relationships between images: could be telling a story (narrative), could be just about the shapes and patterns (abstract), could be commenting on some other meaning. Save all 20 on your USB stick in a folder labeled "20 to 5.one subject.your name". Within the folder, name your chosen 5 images in the order that you want them viewed: "1.one subject.your name", "2.one subject.your name" etc. and save them. Remember, this is your chance to make a good first impression, so take time to do this well!! I am expecting a great deal of effort and thinking, not perfection. For example my pepper images would get me a B+ grade. They fulfill what we are looking for, but I would like to have maybe turned them into a comic story using there bodily forms like creating sumo wrestler peppers in a dual or something... Be creative, and see what you can do. Bring USB with images to next class for viewing. |
